About
The Traditional English Apron Company specialises in hard-working aprons for hard-working individuals – all made in a small workshop in Lincolnshire.
Our aprons are made with the upmost care and attention to detail.
- Leather pockets are sewn and then riveted using hand-punched leather washer reinforcements.
- Linings when used are with waterproof canvas, again to provide both maximum protection, but also longevity of the apron.
- Leather waist ties are left long enough for the customer to choose whether they are tied at the front or back.
Ingredients:
- Our superior quality leather is sourced from a supplier in Northampton – home of the leatherwork industry.
- Waxed cotton is the original performance fabric, beginning life over 200 years ago with sailcloth cloaks to provide protection on the world’s oceans. Ours is British made.
- Solid brass buckles on neck straps and brass rivets.
Origin
A-pron a garment covering part of the front of the body and tied at the waist, for protecting the wearer’s clothing: a kitchen apron. a protective garment worn over the front of one’s clothes and tied at the back:
Middle English naperon from Old French, diminutive of nape, nappe ‘tablecloth’ from Latin mappa ‘napkin’. Then was lost by wrong division of napron.
